The Mekko chart below (or Marimekko) explains the average daily American caloric intake. The size of each square in the chart is proportional to number of calories it represents.  Therefore you can quickly get a sense on what the largest contributors are: added fats & oils, wheat flour, and red meat. Surprisingly, vegetables only comprise 125 daily calories.
